In honor of Hispanic Heritage month Sept. 15 – Oct. 15, Chevy loaned me their all-new 2021 Silverado Crew RST 4WD for a road trip to different Hispanic heritage sites in Los Angeles. From West Hollywood to Pasadena to Downtown Los Angeles; I had the pleasure of cruising around town in the most spacious, convenient, comfortable, and safe truck I’ve driven. Honestly, I felt like king of the road!
Just a quick history lesson for everyone, Mexico owned California and much of southern United States from Texas west that we know today. The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in 1848 is when Mexico sold California and many other states to United States. Even though USA owns California now, there is a huge influence of Mexican culture throughout California. In Los Angeles alone, you can feel like you’re transported to Mexico City when visiting the piñata and flower district. In those two districts, you hear Spanish being spoken more than english and can find so many Mexican cultural souvenirs. It’s like you’ve been transported to Mexico.
Chevy’s 2021 Silverado Crew RST 4WD was extremely spacious for me to fill up with souvenirs from my visit to the piñata and flower district.
Parking in downtown LA can be a real challenge with all the tight spots in such a large truck like the Chevy Silverado, but luckily there were sensors and cameras to help guide my way. The sensors and cameras all around Chevy’s Silverado are a game changer for parallel parking. For someone like me who is used to driving small cars, I couldn’t imagine parking without the smart features available.
Other features I enjoyed while cruising around the Hispanic historic sites in Los Angeles were the keyless open, lock & start, remote start, siriusXM, and Bose speakers. Not to forget the seat coolers and seat warmers. Driving around during the daytime the seat coolers were everything to keep me cool in addition to strong AC, but at night LA gets cold and the seat warmers were just what I needed after a long day of being in the warm in the sun. Especially since I forgot to bring a jacket and LA temperature drops at night. Chevy’s Silverado’s seat warmers kept me warm on my drive home.
Before headed home and after the piñata and flower district, I drove over to El Molino Viejo – Pasadena. Completed in 1816 as a grist mill for Mission San Gabriel, the two-story oven-baked brick and adobe structure is a testament to Southern California history. Yes, 1816 is before United States bought California from Mexico. The structure was beautiful and is a true testament to Mexican craftsman ship.
The drive from downtown LA to Pasadena where El Molino Viejo is located was a comfortable breeze in Chevy Silverado. I cannot express enough how comfortable the driver seat is and the back seats are huge, which make you feel like you’re driving around in a spacious cloud. At least that’s how I felt driving. Comfortable and in control of the road.
There are other Hispanic Heritage sites in Los Angeles I did not get to visit, but I encourage you to discover new roads in Chevy’s all-new 2021 Silverado Crew RST 4WD. A few sites you can discover are El Pueblo de Los Angeles, Mission San Juan Capistrano, and Lopez Adobe Los Angeles. Silverado Recreation Parks district is also an option I highly recommend checking out. I did not get to visit due to wild fire season here in California, but if you have the opportunity to enter when it is open. The photos of the pure nature look beautiful and why wouldn’t you take your Chevy Silverado to Silverado Recreation Parks.
Wherever you are, I hope you get to celebrate Hispanic Heritage month! There is so much culture to be discovered. Take Chevy’s all-new 2021 Silverado Crew RST 4WD and discover new roads!
