Let me preface this podcast with I made a few mistakes during the interview and in no way is the interview sponsored by any of the brands mentioned. I am only sharing personal experiences. These photos are from the photo shoot that was in trade for my time.
Am I a star is a great question within the influencer world. Alena Sable, who interviewed me for this podcast and photographed these beautiful pictures came up with the name, and I feel it is completely appropriate. No, the podcast is not about me being a star. Though, I do find the name is relevant considering the number of egos that are within the influencer industry. Many of them do feel they are shining the brightest when in your presence. Not gonna lie, even I feel the ego boost from social media sometimes. However, I do always try to stay as humble possible. Because at the end of the day, I’m still the kid from small-town Texas who came to NYC, who didn’t know anyone and started his blog to get his foot in the fashion industry’s door.
While chatting about my experiences with Alena, it reminded me the amount of work that goes into blogging and the personal difficulties I have with blogging. I can’t thank Alena enough for inviting me to take part in her first podcast series and getting to spend a few hours having a fun photo shoot with her and my husband. The photos are pretty major! 🙂
Give the podcast a listen! I’d love to hear some feedback from aspiring influencers or anyone who took the time to give our podcast a listen.
From here on I am rambling a bit about my difficulties with the influencer industry. Because let’s be honest, sometimes we need a good rambling rant to let out emotions.
Fast-forward 6 years, I could not be more thankful for the opportunities my blogging career has offered me! Now as the influencer industry is changing at a rapid pace. I do find myself wishing to take a break, to grow without distraction. Take a break from looking at my phone just before I go to sleep, as soon as I wake up, and almost every 5 – 10 minutes throughout the day. Take a break from being overstimulated by what is considered beautiful by the number of likes a photo has. Take a break from constantly comparing myself to other influencers who edit their photos better, get more paid opportunities, do amazing videos, travel more, and the list could go on.
As much as I love the opportunities at this moment. I find myself curious about what will be my breaking point? I am not a star who everyone loves. With my blog, I have grown up in front of the internet for the past 6 years. Sharing moments that I found special. Photographs that helped build the career I have now. Though all I can think, what is next?
Okay, ok! That was a good rambling rant about some of my mixed emotions with an industry I love and sometimes feel lost in. Let’s be honest, I most likely won’t break. I’m pretty dramatic sometimes if you haven’t noticed yet. The break is a metaphor for evolving into whatever the next stage is…
I appreciate you taking the time to read. Possibly even listen! I’d love to hear your feedback on my first podcast in the comments below or on my Instagram. <3
