While I was in Barcelona during the month of August, I had the pleasure to stop by Generator Hostel’s Barcelona location for a private tour of their facilities.

I know when you think of hostels you instantly think of old grimy run down bed shares that you hear horror stories about from friends who have had bad experiences traveling abroad. This post is to change your perception on hostels, at least when you stay at a Generator Hostel. Upon arriving at Generator Hostel & Hotel Barcelona, I was first initially taken back by it’s size and prominent location in the heart of the popular Gràcia district, only a short walk away from the Eixample district where I was staying. Both of these locations are great for sight seeing, while not being in the heart of the tourism bustle that is Las Ramblas and Gothic courters, both beautiful but not ideal for sleeping after a long day. This is why Generator’s location is great for visitors who want to site see, have culture, but still have peace of mind at night. Which is exactly what you’ll find in their behemoth location. Boasting 726 beds with options from 8 or 6 bed dorms down to private rooms for twins or single rooms all of which have private bathrooms (a major plus!). Not to forget you can also book a private hotel style room that offers breathe taking balcony views over Barcelona. All for travel friendly affordable budgets, and don’t worry their wifi is fast too. I made sure to check and was my first question, as I’ve stayed in hostels that say they offer wifi, but have horrible service and can only be accessed in the lobby. This is not the case at Generator. As for the common spaces, there are plenty from movie rooms, to game rooms, reading rooms, and even a fun photo-booth so you can take some memories home with you. Lastly, there of course is a inexpensive buffet breakfast in the basement and an added treat is their special bar filled with 300 lanterns that are inspired by Barcelona’s annual Fiesta Major de Gràcia. A Beautiful sight to get a taste of Barcelona’s culture from within your accommodation.

Now if this hasn’t intrigued you step out of your comfort zone and try staying at Generator Hostel & Hotel Barcelona, I’m not sure what will, but I know the next time I need a place to stay in Barcelona. I’ll be making my RESERVATION with Generator.
