This blog post was originally shared summer of 2014:
Yesterday I talked about MAR BELLA BEACH, the only beach worth visiting in Barcelona. And with summer (somewhat) officially being over this upcoming Monday, I thought it was only appropriate for me to get one last blog post about another one of my favorite beaches here in Spain near Barcelona. This beach is actually in a cute town, SITGES. Yet again, I am bias due to me being a gay man, but come on, a beautiful beach does’t look at sexual orientation it only soothes ones soul. With that being said, the town of Sitges is only a quick 30 minute train ride from Barcelona with three locations to get board (you can google the details). This means you can leave either at 10am and spend a whole day there or leave at 1pm and spend a half day with so many frequent trains going to and from Barcelona. Also for you guys that enjoy partying like I do, the last train stops at midnight, but you can easily stay in Stiges partying until 5am when the next train starts (or you know, find an accommodation for the night ;).
Now you don’t need much when going to Sitges either. I usually wear an outfit acceptable for any moderate dinner situation and lightly pack my backpack with a beach towel, water, snacks, mophie, tanning lotion, and leave the rest to spontaneity. As there is a grocery store as soon as you get off the train and there are many cute shops on your short 10 minute walk to the beach. This town is the perfect day getaway for many reasons. I will miss it once I have left Barcelona this upcoming Monday, but plan on visiting at least one more time before I leave! 🙂
