Chevy provided me with a vehicle loan to test drive but all opinions are my own.
The other weekend before COVID-19, I had the pleasure of test driving Chevy’s all-electric Bolt EV 2020. From running errands around Los Angeles to taking a Sunday day trip to Santa Barbra for a hike. Chevy’s Bolt EV surprised me most that it drove like a vehicle that runs on gas, but there is no gas. There was not once a feeling there wasn’t enough power to drive or that I couldn’t accelerate as needed when on the freeway. The best part is, there is no need for a gas station. I learned that by using myChevrolet Mobile App, I would be able to plan my daily trips around charging stations that I can charge the Chevy Bolt EV.
Before I even started driving, I was most curious about how many miles the Chevy Bolt EV had before I had to charge again. The starting full charge electric range is 259 miles. Which was more than enough for me to travel to Santa Barbra and back to Santa Monica without even having to worry about charging.
Just within 30 minutes at a regular charge station, the Chevy Bolt EV is able to charge 25 miles per hour and if lucky to find a fast charge station, it can charge 100 miles in 30 minutes.
Luckily in California there are a lot of charging stations. Especially in Santa Monica! I was able to charge at most parking garages while I was at the gym, at an event, or shopping. You can very easily charge your Bolt EV at home overnight just like you would charge your cellphone for a fraction of the price you’d pay for gas. I plugged my Bolt EV to a regular 120 volt plug, but charging stations offer fast DC charging, which helps charge the vehicle a lot faster. If you decide to get a Bolt EV, you can also have a 240 volt plug installed and it will help charging the vehicle a lot faster.
Honestly, after getting to drive around Chevy’s Bolt EV for 3 days and experiencing how easy it is to charge up while out and about, I know I was totally on love. When the time comes for me to get a vehicle in Los Angeles, I know what I’ll be getting. Especially since there is no gas involved. We all need to chip in and make environmentally friendlier choices, having a vehicle with zero emissions is a small step that helps me feel like I’m part of a movement to help the world!
