Greeting New York Autumn in Style (obviously)

Every year the start of autumn is a refreshing time when the air is cooler and the night is longer. For me, I’m not much of a fan like I used to when I was a kid growing up in Texas. Now in NYC, it means the cold will stay until May and after December the holidays are over. Though living in the moment is the best way to have fun. Especially since layers are more exciting to wear. Thumb freddy rodriguez bushwick wallThumb freddy rodriguez buswick scaffoldingI’m currently enjoying layering blazers over hoodies with dress pants, jeans and joggers for a more dressed up yet relaxed look.

Velvet and suede are also textures I’m having fun playing with! They are much more luxurious looking and warm if worn properly.

I can not forget plaid. For me when I first moved to NYC, I connected plaid with almost anyone who lived in Brooklyn. It was then to me such a “hipster” print. Now I guess I’m apart of the trend since I live in Brooklyn and enjoy wearing plaid. My husband makes fun of me saying summer is for stripes and winter is for plaid. Since those are the two most prominent prints in my closet.

Then there are silk jackets that are great for the not so cold days. Which are my favorite! When the air is just right to walk around the city without breaking a sweat and only a light jacket is necessary.

In contrast to silk jackets are my favorite jacket for when it is actually cold, that would be thick bomber jackets with lots of filling that keep me oh so warm! They’re my easy go-to when it gets cold to run out the door and keep warm.

What are some of your favorite ways to stay warm? Leave me a comment! I’m always interested in new ways to keep warm during the colder months.

Also, don’t forget to keep up with me on Instagram
