This blog post was originally shared Summer of 2015:
When attending Berlin’s most exclusive techno club you’ll hear many say, “you must wear all black to get in.” This is somewhat true in the beginning, but after not so much. Take queues from my respectable parting outfit wearing white KENNETH COLE JOGGERS with a simple black FOREVER 21 TANK-TOP and KENNETH COLE SNEAKERS for inspiration.
Since I’ve lived in Berlin I have been to BERGHAIN more times than I can count on my hands this year (okay, from January – August with only 3 weeks away during June so… 28 time this year alone). I needless to say have become friends with one of the main bouncers thus allowing myself to have more fun with what I wear to party. As you can see on my blog, I’m not the typical all black kind of guy, but I do respect this style. I’m the guy you’ll see arrive in all black, go home for a break and return in white joggers or a blue and white tank-top for a statement.
I must say, there is a lot said about Berghain, but to be honest it is like a second home to many that live here in Berlin and like a living room to me on the weekends. Yes the door may be intimidating to foreigners and locals alike, though the key is to be confident and prove you want to be apart of the family. Then alles gute! You really can find yourself or lose yourself in Berghain, and ultimately move in a positive direction from the epic techno beats to the never end toilet stall queues. There is one and only Berghain!
p.s. pro tip for those who have not been. go on a Sunday morning, don’t have to be all in black, but don’t look so innocent. Don’t talk, respect the bouncers, don’t come in groups larger than three, preferably two gay guys to one girl ratio. and have fun!
