This blog post was originally shared fall of 2014:
Venice in November might as well be the best time of year to visit, there are hardly any tourist and its like you have the city to yourself. The weather is the cherry on top as it’s mild and you can manage wearing only a light sweater.
I wish I was still in Venice with my new friend MARC who I met on my first trip to Venice and was nice enough to take these photos for me. As I mentioned, visiting Venice in November is ideal, as I’ve heard the horror stories that there are too many tourist, but much to my surprise during my visit I was able to capture the city during its calm period. You can see some examples on my INSTAGRAM. I had an absolutely amazing time spending three days exploring Venice! Many also say you can see the city in a day, but I highly recommend three at least or even a week if you’d like to see each and every canal as I wish I could have. To reflect on my time there, I’ll be doing a PHOTO DIARY DEDICATED TO VENICE later. So stay tuned! 😉
As for what to wear in Venice during November, I chose November because it would be much more mild in temperature than Berlin and not require a large coat. I was able to manage with only light layers such as a COTTON HOODIE, a light bomber jacket, and an undershirt for extra warmth against the occasional wind. Now this was only necessary on the overcast days, but for half of my trip I was only in a shirt and jeans when it was sunny. But as weather is always unpredictable, packing light layers is your best way to stay warm and comfortable while exploring one of my new favorite cities.
This is my first post in a series I’ll be showing how to pack for two weeks in Italy with only a carry on suitcase while visiting 5 cities: Milan, Venice, Florence, Rome, and Naples. The full post will come next week.
