I made my way to Hamburg from Berlin last Friday on a spontaneous pleasure/ work trip, but mostly pleasure. Thanks to Bla Bla Car and COUCHSURFING I was able to put together a last minute trip at the price of almost nothing more than a nice meal. Luckily for me, my Couchsurfing host knew Hamburg extremely well. So without any time to waste upon my arrival, I dropped my bag and we headed to the harbor to watch the sunset from Elbstrand beach with one of his Univeristy friends. This was a warm up before headed to Sternschanze for dinner, some drinks, then we ventured to Reeperbahn for a fun night out. All on day one.
Day 2 and 3 in quick summery included checking out Hamburg’s warehouse district, enjoying my first Oktoberfest in Germany with my Couchsurfing hosts friends, canoeing in Stadtpark, and ending my trip with a musical water show in Planten un Blomen. All with a few extra sites here in there. Making for a relaxing weekend I’d highly recommend to anyone seeking something new from Berlin. And if you’re lucky to be hosted by MARIUS who I think was an awesome host and now a new friend. You’re guaranteed to have a one of kind experience!
