Excuse my week without updating, I was forced by German government to uproot my life in Berlin and move back to New York with only two weeks to do so. My last outfit post from Berlin I’m wearing latest SEAL BLACK BACKPACKTOMS SUNGLASSES, and classic CONVERSE SNEAKERS.

During my last days in Berlin I was trying my best to see friends, spend time with my boyfriend, and pack up my life (well practically give it all away…). Since I over stayed my visa by 3 months, the German government gave me no sympathy as a criminal in their eyes. They took 9 months to review my freelance application, to then reject me telling me to leave within two weeks back at the end of April. Though I already had a job booked to work in Lisbon and then another in August. The German government thought I wasn’t an asset their economy as they stated in my letter of rejection. Though without setting up a meeting to speak with me in person, I highly doubt they understand what my blog entails and how my freelance work I did in Berlin is an asset to the German economy.

Regardless of my tries, I was forced to leave my entire life in Berlin on September 10th for New York. Sure, I bet you think this is not a problem. Except I don’t have a salary to support the cost of living in New York anymore compared to Berlin, I don’t have an apartment to come back to, and getting a job doesn’t happen over night. So sure, I am lucky to have friends to stay with, but moving every couple of days for two weeks in NYC isn’t the most fun. Especially while trying to freelance for a company that starts 6 hours before you wake up, set up meetings for new work, and see friends who are happy to have me back. A series of unnecessary first world problems set in place by people being limited to where they can live in work based off of where they are born. Which is not a choice upon birth, other than we are humans of earth. Not of where we are born as borders have set in place.

Making this transition now two weeks out, I am much more optimistic about my 6 month ban from EU. As I will use the time to rebrand Blue Perk to a new site with more than my personal style. I want to share my full story traveling over the passed year, the stories from creators I’ve met, how I travel on a budget while looking costly, and much more as limits are endless. There is so much you all don’t know and I find it now that I’m back in New York sharing my personal insight can help others follow their dreams too while learning from my mistakes. A new modern frontier is ahead!

Until then, keep up with my daily life on Instagram @BluePerk.
